We pause to recognize those member who have completed their earthly pilgrimage.

 
 

If you ever lived in Sonoma County and were involved in the Grange, you knew Ann Burrow, who was Secretary of the Bennet Valley Grange for more than 65 years. Ann passed peacefully on April 9th, at the age of 110 years. Ann was born on October 23, 1905, and moved to Sonoma County with her family in 1922. At the time of her passing it was thought that Ann was the oldest person living in Sonoma County.

James Erwin Fredicson Sr. or Erwin as we all knew him passed awary on August 3rd 2015 from natural causes in Eureka CA. He was an 80 year member of the Grange.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Brother Jack Eyler of Wyandotte Grange, Butte County. Brother Jack was born October 12, 1924 and was released from his earthly toils on September 27, 2014.

Brother Jack joined the Grange on May 1, 1982. He and his beloved wife, Betty, both came to love the organization with their whole hearts. Brother Jack first became involved in the California State Grange as a delegate. In 1998 he was appointed as a Deputy State Master by State Grange Master John Felder, continuing to serve in that position until his death, assisting five more State Masters. Brother Jack was also honored to be the Gatekeeper of the California State Grange for several years.

For several years, Brother Jack was also known as “Betty’s assistant” during the time Sister Betty served as the Grange Women’s Activities Director for the State Grange. Jack and Betty spent so much of their lives traveling and promoting the Grange in any way they could.

We know that Brother Jack toiled diligently in the field, reaped the harvest, dispensed charity, and displayed fidelity to his Brothers and Sisters. He is now receiving that welcome plaudit in the truest sense, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Dick was born Richard Dahms on December 24, 1939 in Reading, PA. After serving in the USAF Dick arrived at Camp Beale in 1960, where he met and married Pat. The family grew with the additions of daughters Carolyn, Pam and Dawn, and son Richard. After moving to Oregon House, Dick joined the Lake Frances Grange in 1979.

He served as Master of Lake Francis Grange, and a Deputy State Master in the organization that he loved.

BETTY H. BARRETT AND EDWIN A. BARRETT Betty H. Barrett was born on February 14,1922 and passed away at the age of 92 on March 7, 2014.

Edwin A. Barrett was born on October 14, 1915 and passed away at the age of 98 on March 17, 2014 just 10 days after his "sweetheart".

Both were born and raised and attended local schools in CT. Betty in Ansonia, CT, and Ed in Millville, CT. Ed served in WWII from 1944-1946 in the Army and Army Air corp. He then attended the University of Alabama receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

While employed at U.S. Rubber Co. as a draftsman, he met the love of his life Betty, who was a shoe model for the company at the time, at the water cooler. They were married on October 21, 1950 enjoying 63 years of marriage. They moved to Southern CA. where Ed worked as a Mechanical draftsman for Lockheed designing aircraft interiors. Betty was a homemaker and mother during this time.

After retiring in 1960, they moved to Paradise, CA. and opened Barrett's Skyway Florist. After 15 years they sold the business and Betty went to work for Butte County as Assistant County Clerk. Retiring after 16 years, Ed purchased and operated California medical claims for several years, outliving all of his clients. Ed and Betty enjoyed several years of travel and were actively involved in local and State Grange, the V.F.W and vestry of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church. Ed enjoyed telling stories of his life, especially his war stories. Betty enjoyed several years as a "Pink Lady" at Feather River Hospital. They gave generously to numerous charities.

They were preceded in death by their infant son Fred and daughter-in-law Dawn.They are survived by sons Ned, (wife Dawn) of Rohnert Park, Robert )wife Robin) of Magalia, and Lea, (wife Dawn) of Chico; Richard, (wife Delores) of NH, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
